Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Binstack (“we”, “our”, “us”) makes a desktop application for tracking product inventory, expiration dates, and storage locations. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and application, why we collect it, and how it’s handled.

2. Data you enter into the app

Product names, expiration dates, storage locations, and quantities that you add to Binstack are stored locally on your device. We do not upload, sync, or have access to this inventory data.

3. License Validation and Technical Data

When you purchase a license, the transaction is handled entirely by our third-party payment processors (such as PayPal or the Microsoft Store). We do not collect, receive, or store your name, email address, or financial card details. To issue your software license and enforce our per-seat model, our servers process and store only the following technical identifiers:

  • Payment/Order ID: A transaction number provided by the payment processor used to verify your purchase.
  • License & Activation Keys: Unique cryptographic strings assigned to your purchase slot.
  • Hashed Hardware ID (HWID): A one-way multi-stage hashed cryptographic string generated by your machine. This cannot be reversed to identify your specific computer components or identify you personally. It is used to verify your active seat limit.
4. Operational Necessity and Data Deletion

Because Binstack uses a server-side validation to unlock paid features across your active seats, storing your Payment ID, license keys, and hashed HWID is an operational necessity. If these technical identifiers are removed, we will be unable to verify your purchase, validate your active seats, or provide the licensed application service.

5. Website analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics on this website to understand aggregate traffic (e.g. which pages are visited), without tracking individuals across other sites. If we ever add cookies or third-party tracking, this policy will be updated first.

6. Third-party services

Purchases may be processed by PayPal and/or the Microsoft Store, each governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review PayPal’s and Microsoft’s privacy policies directly, as we do not control how these providers handle the persoanl data (like your email or billing details) you provide to them during checkout.

7. Data retention

We retain technical purchase verification IDs and activation records for as long as needed to honor lifetime licenses, provide software updates, and meet legal accounting obligations.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
